Flayva, I am not even second guessing what I say. My long held position is supported by none other than the authorities right there in the US. This whole matter is a mean game played out on the former British colonies. Your tke is not entirely correct for it is really different systems equating to the same requirement but you have to properly understand the requirement to interpret it. Let me ask you what is the B in LLB for? (although it is not just a simple matter of the same word)

Instead of looking at it as UWI vs USA, the two systems are British System and North American System. The British system requires you to complete an advanced program for entry to the undergrad program. The NA does not. It is a settled matter that ALevels is university level (the dispute is how much of it it is). The standing reference only says it is lower division university level work. So it is false to say students leave from high school straight to Law school under the Brits system. Again that does not happen anywhere in the world. Regardless of what some loud mouths are saying and claiming jurisdiction, they all have to hold to a certain measure and that is an international measure. Also, the requirement for Law school in NA is actually two years post secondary standing it is really competiton that puts the standard to full graduation. As to the LSAT that is just an unnecessary hurdle placed there to keep out certain people as is the Bar exams. Ask yourself what did you really pay for when you paid to do the LLB/JD degree? What does that say about you?

I attended a university in Canada and their entire undergrad degree program was no higher than ALevels the range was actually fourth form to sixth form and my teachers qualification in Jamaica gives me full authority to recognise and assess that level( their Honours program compares to the British undergrad). One needs to know that under the British system everyone takes the Honours program and then gets whatever classification they end up with). So the difference my friend is really how you end up whereas NA sets a lower than Honours Program for its regular students while Brits demand that only the exceptional goes to university). The way university is banded about and inclusive in NA the Brits make it exclusive.

Then really whats in a name? It is the quantity and quality of the course/program that matters. Did you know that until recently the BEd at UWI was really a second degree (not a first degree)? So there goes your claim that a first degree is called bachelors. One had to have either another undergrad degree or teachers college certification and be at least 21 years old for entry to that program. After a while only the dumb asses in Jamaica did not know that and made changes without even knowing what they did. The current Education Act describes teachers diploma holders as having the equivalent of an undergrad degree and I can tell I have proven to certain people that my diploma program by their measure satisfies requirement for at least three undergrad degree designations.

Now to you claim that NA undergrad takes four years, ask yourself four years from what point? Ask yourself what is really meant by a year? And ALevels done outside of the UK is not just one year of university level work. Ask yourself what is meant by a year? Note that the UK people smartened up and now do ALevels by modules instead of the exclusive, harsh and brutally difficult model used in other parts of the world including the Caribbean. The reason this ALevels is not known anywhere as the equivalent of an undergrad degree is simply prejudice and the need for it to be used to keep certain groups down. Like I said I let certain people realise that Alevels is way more than they think it is and I used their measure. If the authorities in NA can say an extremely poor ALevel grade is a sign of performance so high that the student would be very competitive for entry to selective school- Boss By selective schools they mean the IVY LEAGUES. We all need to understand what was and is being done to us and why there is the need to play such games upon our psyche. And no, students form other advanced systems do not even out when they come to the US for they simply do not get their due and perhaps you need to notice which part of the world is considered advanced!
