Sis P, I believe that the advertisings come into all communities with equal reckless abandon. Where I see the difference though is that our black kids don't have any motivational factors outside the home. So, while the white kids are out doing extra curricular activities - tennis, golf, swimming, dancing, working in various joints, our kids are home watching waaaaaay too much TV and don't we all know that we eventually become what we eat - in the same way, we become or aspire to become what we see being displayed on TV. One of the thing I realize it that most of our kids only watch those music video stations/comedy stations where so so bling bling a gwaan.

Somehow, I don't believe some of the changes that are needed can come from government, yet many do. This is not necessarily a catch 22 situation, we as a people have to do our part - no matter how small and even with all the hurdles that others have set up for us! Lata
