A Toronto private school for girls has reached a secret settlement with Canadian pop singer Amanda Marshall's mother, a former receptionist who they fired last year. Gencie Marshall, 63, said yesterday she was "very thrilled" with the offer from Havergal College, which came after she spent months picketing in front of the school's ivy covered walls, sometimes with her famous daughter. Ms. Marshall lost her job last June, two years short of retirement. She received a 10-month severance package, but wanted a 27-month package to see her through to retirement.
