Well in a nutshell he was being asked to expiain the contraction in the civil service that took place on his watch ( some 20,000 thousand people lost their jobs - that was Eddie's number by the way, not mine) and the tax increase that followed. Eddie said words to the effect that things were so bad that only strong medicine could prevent the patient from dying and if the government did not reduce it wages and benefits bill and increase revenue it would have gone bankrupt. He followed this up by saying that they "created 100,000 jobs one year later" so there was a net gain. Mutty did not dispute that figure, neither did he ask any details about it, but wi all know what clock a strike in that there department.

But the best part is this. Mutty asked Eddie if the JLP were to win the next election, would this be necessary again, and he said, in effect........yes.

RE: Britney Spears. I could be wrong but I believe she might have been the one who was being interviewed by Jay Leno and said that one of the things she had never figured out in life was whether the meat in a can of 'Chicken of the Sea' was tuna or chicken. All indications were that she was serious.
