"If [...] I would not be too concerned about where they play. Lemme answer dat in SmallIslandese: "Maan, a pure skunt dat!" It is of paramount importance that as many places as possible see play. Playing venues have now gone beyond the traditional Sabina, Kengsington, QPO and Bourda to include grounds in Antigua, Grenada and St. Lucia. Our beloved 'Bina would hardly see a match since it isn't anymore a top money earner; Kengsington and QPO (and perhaps QP in Antigua) are the best profit takers.
. . See, you're already hardening my position against the idea.

I cannot tell you what the players earn, but to my understanding, they are paid well. (Could be the reason why the said Dwayne Smith chose cricket over football, which was his other passion.) From the number of injuries per tour it appears that we have some issues with diet and training. But it shouldn't take privatising to remedy that.

Getting the best out of our cricketers is something for the WICB (via a good coach) to put on the front burner. The other day they were interviewing a couple foreign coaches, but in the end hired on Gus Logie to replace Roger Harper. Bad move, in my opinion. At this time, I'd be gunning for a top international coach.
. . So much yet to be done shy of handing over to private (selfish) interests.

Re Sammy Sosa... interesting. But I don't see how he could have made it in cricket professionally. What, would he have moved (at a young age!) to an Anglophone island and come up through the ranks? One cannot possibly become a good player in adulthood. Good baseball batsmen will at best be yam lickers in cricket!

Can't promise success, but I am going to see if I can invite IrieMan back to weigh in on this privatising business.
