I knew if the discussion continued discipline would come up.
Lack of discipline, at least as it pertains to actual behaviour, is mostly accredited to the Jamaicans*; others refer to them as "rude boys". Maybe that's why I didn't mention it. (Nah! I'm not that insular.) While both Cuddy Walsh and Jimmy Adams were the finest examples of gentlemen, it apparently didn't transfer to Frank Rose nor Leon Garrick (neither in our touring squad). Then there is good looking Marlon Samuels who loves to party at nights on tour, even with engagement looming the next morning. There are persistent rumours too about Wavel Hinds and even Chris Gayle, who don't like to "tek tellin'" from coach or captain.
. . But then, look at the skipper, Brian Lara, and chief selector, Sir Viv, who tours with the team-- not exactly examples of behaviour and discipline either. And yes, manager Skerrit is also a night owl and womaniser. (Rumour has it that he may be the one to replace the late Pierre Charles for PM. Hope it's true-- would be good for our cricket.)

misbehaviour is overrated, I think. I don't so many guys have actually threatened fisticufs and pulled knives. What I see as indiscipline though is stuff like...
i) "Me have a business; cricket a no me (entire) life." - Hinds.
ii) "Me can bat betta dan Sobers." - Hinds.
iii) "A so me bat aready an' me no haffe change nutten." - Gayle.
iv) Big up a foreign captain (Steve Waugh) on his premiere century - Samuels.
v) Always on one of his (supposedly several) mobile phones when not on the field. - Samuels. (Some now calling him SamuCells!)
vi) From playing youth cricket on up, Jermaine Lawson was known to have a funny action; never investigated seriously until he reached Test level. - JCB and WICB.

, it's a combination of the falling value of the Ja$ and the waning interest in cricket. To get good returns Sabina has to be full or near capacity. Even though ODIs do a little better, only Tests involving Australia or England draw people out in Ja.
*"Rudest" of all though is a Nevisian (not on tour either) named Ruonako Morton, one of the best bats on the region, who once was expelled from the Academy, sent home early from an "A" team tour of England and Canada, left another tour (Sri Lanka, I believe) on his own saying that his grandmother had died (not true, of course) was suspended for a year by the Board, reinstated recently, and just yesterday or the day before, stabbed a relative in the back and was jailed.
