Yardy there are some things that money cannot change but there are some things like child abuse that are directly related to the lack of money. I think that poverty, poor housing, unemployment, social exclusion and discrimination can place intolerable pressures on individuals that can lead them to abuse children. Our culture fails to value children sufficiently we often view them as objects and not individuals, accords them low status, and does not see meeting their needs a priority. That is why it angers me to no end when the fool-fool politicians offer parents, school system no help. Their suggestions oftentimes only helps the perpetrators it seems. I am not sure if the behavior is more prevalent now or the media is just reporting it more. With more money the govt can educate parents, community on these behaviors and improve conditions at these homes.
Classism is a big problem also hence the 12 yo wanting a cell phone for christmas. We all want to belong. I am so thankful for my opportunities
