So Strom Thurmond left the big house looking for a little love and found it where generations of his ancestors did.

I am always amazed how people in this country claim to be amazed at this. Then again most of our history books either dont address the full scope of this issue, especially in the immediate post-emancipation years or lie outright about it. See the Jefferson controversy for example. Certainly, in Jamaica, we always knew who Busha's "outside" children were. In fact it was so common that we accepted it as a part of the society's landscape without all these righteous denials we hear in the US. There are Busha's children in my family tree and yours too, no doubt about it. Easy to spot, they show up, seemingly 'out of nowhere', in the tree, an dem don't look like the rest of us. But we all love each other still.

I could be wrong but I have a feeling if the family trees of many White people were reproduced in their entirety, those alive today would be in for a great surprise.
