Lawd it cowle! These are the dayz when a man need to mek up wid im girl.
Anyway Sis Why, you just hit the nail right on the head. I too fail to understand the rationale for this wholesale condemnation of the proposed program, given the track record of condom use. It has long been well established and documented that the benefits of using condoms far outweigh the risks. In fact, condoms have been tested and proven to be the best form of contraceptive, offering greater than 90% protection against sexually transmitted diseases. If that is not a basis to make them readily accessible to especially
irresponsible offenders
, then what is? And so what if condoms are available in the stores? How many people, especially teens that feel they must have sex, can afford to purchase condoms? Further more, how many irresponsible offenders will risk that prime opportunity for a "good piece" by putting off so they can run to the nearest convenience store for condoms? How many, in the heat of passion, will dare allow that flame to die down. Shouldn't it therefore be our priority to make it convenient for people like these, so society won't have to deal with the consequences of unprotected sex?
People really think I have a sick mind or I'm playing devil's advocate (Mz J, Dine, P, RR, etc), but I am simply being a realist. The fact that you may feel fulfilled having just Mr or Mrs Right by your side, doesn't necessarily mean the rest of the world does. Some people like settling for the main course. Others like having desert and perhaps a couple glasses of wine too. We are a world of choices and desires. I don't necessarily subscribe to every aspect of life, but I can't ignore the fact that they exist. Whether we choose to accept it or not, the things around us are real and eventually will affect us in one way or another.
Sex is a reality of life. It's become one of the basic desires and needs of mankind. People are just having sex and more sex. In fact, almost everything in life these days has a sexual theme to it. The images and influences of sex around us are so compelling that it takes very little to get people "in the mood".
And yes, I do believe in responsible sexual behavior. I believe sex must be shared between two
legal
, consenting individuals.
