HR, how very sad the situation in our neighbouring island, the place where many of our J'can ancestors fought alongside L'Overture and Christophe to relieve the white man of his burdon. It's a blight and a disgrace on the upcoming bicentenniary. Cho!
. . The police here in S. Fla. several months ago uncovered one case of a restavek, a girl worked by a family and molested by both father and son of said family, and the talk then was that there may have been many more.
. . As for Fr. Arestide, nobody is more disappointed than I am. I know that he was derailed the first time 'round (and all indications are that he'd have done much better then), but rahtid man, he's doing nothing at all and may as well resign.
. . Thanks for the piece.

As to the Jacko case... Either way it goes I shan't be losing any sleep. "Jacko" is clearly short for "Jackass"!! But that DA in Saint Barb was clearly salivating at the mouth. He looked much more an involved/interested party than merely a government functionary prosecuting the law of the land.

Dine, great expos that on Freddy Adu. The youngster has quite a future ahead of him. There's another Nigerian-stock youth making waves here in the other kind of football, the one played with the hand. He is the recently-signed Miami Dolphins defensive end Adewale Ogunleye. (Sounds Igbo to me so most of us J'cans will have some common blood.) He was the front page sports feature in the Sun Sentinel Sunday past. Congrats and all the best to both of them.

So glad this FTAA thing is over and the Miami streets returned to their rightful users. Be off with all the time-wasting anarchists; they achieved nothing, perhaps except gaol for some 150 of them.
. . Re the FTAA itself, I'm skeptical but yet to study their accords.
