{{PARDON me for expressing absolute horror at the manner in which the young turks in the Jamaica Labour Party are treating Eddie Seaga's concerns for the source of funding for the internal party election campaign. Eddie did the right thing. He is no different from political party leaders of yesteryear both here and elsewhere.}}

{{OPPOSITION Leader Edward Seaga has written to People's National Party president and prime minister, P J Patterson, to explore the possibility of "bilateral talks" on the thorny issue of campaign financing.

"The time is appropriate, I believe, for us to discuss the issue to determine whether bilateral talks should be initiated between the People's National Party and the Jamaica Labour Party to ascertain what common ground exists for further action," Seaga said in an undated letter released to the press yesterday.

After initial discussions between the two major political parties, the opposition leader suggested, the general public could be given an opportunity to participate in the debate.

"...The debate could be opened, possibly through the EAC (Electoral Advisory Committee), to the public in general and interest groups in civil society," Seaga said.}}
