Just had a chance to read Hartley Neita's article which echoes discussions we have had here, led by our esteemed professor Yardy. This article does reinforce my contention that should Portia win the upcoming race for PNP leader, she may not necessarily become PM.

One possible outcome of all this is that Portia is Leader and PJ continues as PM - if he cancels his decision to give up his seat in Parliament.

Now the larger question is whether our founding fathers made a mistake in writing the constitution the way they did. I say a big NO and, in fact, their wording is pure genius because it gives the GG more than figurehead status in the country. This also recognizes that a leader, selected only by delegates of his party, cannot automatically become PM in a democratic state whose proud boast is "power for the people."
