PAID INTERNSHIPS WITH THE FOREIGN AGRICULTURAL SERVICE IN USDA.

The Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) offers 15-20 paid internships each summer for economic and marketing specialists in our Washington, D.C. offices through the Summer Internship Program (SIP). The SIP provides U.S. citizen interns with an excellent opportunity to learn about issues, programs, and activities related to international agricultural trade. Students gain a broader perspective on U.S. international trade and development interests through interaction with FAS' 90 overseas offices and other federal agencies such as the State Department, U.S. Agency for International Development, the Department of Commerce, and the U.S. Trade Representative. Housing may be provided on a need basis. The deadline is FEB. 17, 2006.

We are looking for a few exceptional senior and graduate level college and university students to work in our OVERSEAS offices to promote U.S. agricultural interests through the International Agricultural Internship Program (IAIP) for FALL, 2006. The USDA's Foreign Agricultural Service, one of the four U.S. government foreign service agencies, needs about 10 students for each semester (fall, spring and summer) with excellent analysis, marketing, writing, language and organizational skills and experience to work on international agricultural trade policy issues, commodity and market analysis and organizing trade events during a 10-16 week PAID INTERNSHIP.
U.S. citizen students who are majoring in a business or science related agricultural field, i.e. Ag Econ, Econ, Finance, Business or Marketing, International Studies or Relations, Law or in a Biotechnology Program are eligible.

Online registration for the fall semester closes APRIL 17 and the spring program deadline is August 18 for the spring program.

PLEASE IGNORE THE MESSAGE THAT STATES THAT THE SUMMER IAIP PROGRAM HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO MARCH. THIS IS A MESSAGE FOR LAST YEAR'S PROGRAM THAT HAS SOMEHOW RECIRCULATED. THE JANUARY 9 DEADLINE FOR THE SUMMER IAIP IS FINAL.

Graduates with undergraduate and/or graduate degrees that have excellent background, experience and interest in international agricultural trade are encouraged to apply to our permanent hire program, the Career Internship Program (CIP). During the two-year internship, interns work as full time employees with substantial training and rotation opportunities. Upon successful completion, interns are offered career positions. The deadline for the CIP is June 15, 2006.
