I think a debate is worthwhile even though the selection of party head is a "private" matter within the PNP. The fact is whoever is selected will be in line to lead the country. Considering the situation the country is in, it's important to know where the candidates stand. But what should be a relatively simple process is now getting ridiculous. I find it hard to believe that Portia cannot find time in her schedule in three weeks to give a couple of hours to this debate. Me sure a nuh she alone have tings fi do. Now Karl Blythe is balking if Portia isn't there. :rolleyes :rolleyes :rolleyes

A source disclosed that the PSOJ was awaiting a meeting Friday with the Media Association of Jamaica before making final arrangements for the debate.

But the stance taken by Dr. Blythe could derail those plans.

Speaking with RJR News Thursday night Dr. Blythe said it would be unfair for the debate to be held without Mrs. Simpson-Miller participating.

The Central Westmoreland MP made it clear that he would not be budging from his position.

He says until a meeting is held to ascertain whether all the contenders are available for a debate he will not confirm his attendance with the PSOJ.
