Very good point Yardy, but Protocol did not necessarily upset history. In fact, protocol may have defined it. I thought it was very impressive that 4 Presidents spoke at her funeral, and were visible. We all well know that was unthinkable some years back. There was Sonnny Perdue on center stage. Yes his presence is hypocritical given his support for voter legislation that does nothing but suppress the poor and minorities, but I
choose
to look at his presence in a symbolic sense as back in the day Lester Maddox, Govenor of GA, foamed at the mouth when Dr. King's funeral was getting so much attention.
I am glad they were up there, especially Dubya. All his white supremacist followers must have been having goats watching him in the midst of this celebration of a black woman's life. Notice that GWB was seated directly behind the buttocks of every speaker. Let's take consolation in that.
