I wonder what happened to Miss Pearl. She posted from Jamaica and gave an on-scene view of the runnings in Jamaica. She owns her own business and traveled to North America on occasion.

Do you guys remember when someone posted information about a scholarship and this Jamaican lady who lives in Japan gave the info to her family and her grandkids got the scholarship?!!

Lucky break from Gleaner website

Gail Hoad, Staff Reporter

A MESSAGE posted on The Gleaner's website's Readers' Comments section has enabled a Jamaican in Japan to help her two granddaughters in the US enter a lottery which has given them scholarships to exclusive private US schools.

"To have logged on to The Gleaner's forum when I did, especially when I was not privy to the discussion that led to the post, and then for them to actually win, convinces me that there is definitely a supreme rhythm to life! It also testifies to the wonder of the Internet!" an elated Yvonne Goldson said in an e-mail to The Gleaner from Japan.

Responding to questions via e-mail, Ms. Goldson said she logged on to the site at a point when someone had mentioned an approaching deadline for scholarship applications for elementary (primary) school children in the US. She took the toll-free number from a related posting in the chat room and called.
