Without a doubt, Sis HR, we were the jewel of the Caribbean. I remember in the 1970s when I didn't own a car yet and had to stand at the bus stop waiting for JOS. Some of the finest JA girls would go speeding by in their luxury cars on their way to their split level homes in Cherry Gardens, Beverly Hills, Ayslsham(?), you name it. One at the bank I worked for kind of liked me too...she was tall, pretty, urbane, sophisticated...then she migrated. Yes, just when I started to get a taste of the good life, the PNP got in and wrecked JA from top to bottom. So much for nostalgia...I am about to weep here at my desk in America, not because of her, but because of Her and what they have done to Her.
P, I agree with everything you say, especially your point about a witness protection program. I would hope that BG's proposals are a work in progress, a start on the road to reclaim our beautiful country from these hoodlums. In his position on the wrong side of House, he can't do much more than talk, which is why I find his 1-3-6 plan so intriguing. It certainly is better than anything we have heard from this wutlis govament in 14 years.
It is, as well, a grand strategic move, coming as it does on the heels of an opinion poll that shows the JLP as the party Jamaicans believe will defeat crime. You have to capitalize on numbers like that, and I expect to see BG ramp it up over the next few months.
The malaise among our people today of which you speak certainly must be the result of being sick and tired of helplessly watching a sick and tired government run our country into the ground. I can think of nothing else unless it is what George Bush, in a rare flash of lucubration, would describe as "the soft bias of low expectations" or something like that.
