PNP supporting Clansman
posted: 2005-10-31 12:59:54
Commanding Officer for St. Catherine North, Superintendent of Police Kenneth Wade says its undisputable that the governing Peoples National Party has been supporting Jamaicas most wanted criminal Donovan Bulbie Bennett.
And according to Mr. Wade with political support from the Peoples National Party, the Clansman Gang has managed to fuel criminality for several years.
According to police reports Bulbie Bennett has been wanted for ten years.
And the police say he has been wanted for between 80 and 100 murders over the two years.
In addition, Bennett has been linked to extortion and other serious crimes in Spanish Town, Old Habour and Portmore in St. Catherine and May Pen in Clarendon.
It is this man, Superintendent Wade says elected representatives of the Peoples National Party have been supporting.
"This is a gang that has been supported or gets some support from the sitting ruling party we can't deny that" he went further and said, "we can't deny and once we deny it we will never get to get the change. We have persons who are full elected members supporting the criminal activities of this man".
Commanding Officer for St. Catherine, Superintendent of Police Kenneth Wade speaking with Ronnie Thwaites on Independent Talk on Power106 this morning.
Superintendent Wade went further to say residents of St. Catherine communities now protesting against the killing of Bulbie Bennett are known PNP supporters.
"The kind of support we are you see coming from the commnuity are not just only because do his benevolence or what he has given to the community. It is not all the communities in Spanish Town that are demonstrating you know . So it must tell you these are commnunities that are strongly aligned and supporters of the ruling government that are in problems now so doesn't that give us a story"
Commanding Officer for St. Catherine, Superintendent of Police Kenneth Wade.
Similarly, he says the there are known connections between the other major gang in Spanish Town the One Order Gang - and the opposition Jamaica Labour Party.
And National Security Minister and PNP Vice President Dr. Peter Phillips said it is apparent that political parties must better co-operate with law enforcement.
