The JLP has become a caricature of itself, led by an exit case, predictable in its annual orgy of dysfunction and with its endless infighting, a threat to democracy in Jamaica.
That Bruce Golding can assume as high a position as he did after leaving in a fit of pique, and failing to make a mark on the political landscape, says more about the JLP than it does Bruce.
And Yard Guard, I wouldnt be so quick to get all moist over the local government elections.
There are 1.3 million registered voters in Jamaica of which an estimated 53%, (based on voting in the last general elections) are members of the PNP. One could say then that there are about 700,000 thousand PNP voters on the island.
Well only 249,882 of them turned out for the local government elections. And even then, the JLP managed to pull in only 17,199 more votes than the PNP.
Conclusion: the JLP won the local government elections because members of the PNP stayed home in disgust with their party , not because of any brilliant leadership by Eddie.
